The specialist gynaecology and obstetrics department at the Medical Centre Bonn – Friedensplatz is equipped with ultra modern technical devices. It offers all kinds of established day clinic diagnostic and therapeutical methods in this field, including invasive diagnosis of mammary gland conditions. This involves amongst other things: supervision of normal and risky pregnancies with the necessary sonographic diagnosis, treatment of patients with benign gynaecological diseases and specialised preventive cancer check ups The high medical standard also comprehends scientifically approved methods of complementary medicine. We offer various methods of traditional Chinese medicine (including acupuncture) in special consultation hours.
One main focus of this specialist area lies on gynaecological oncology including day visit chemo- and pain therapy as well as tumour aftercare for patients suffering from maligne abdominal tumours or breast cancer. Tumour diagnosis and therapy is carried out in close cooperation with the other specialist departments. It is our aim to treat patients as extensively and as well as possible, taking individual disease characteristics especially into consideration. This includes the planning and implementation of “made to measure” chemosensitivity tests. This means that cancer drugs are checked with regard to their effectiveness before starting the treatment. A special laboratory, which is closely associated with our Medical Centre, carries out these tests on request, not only for our patients, but also for other customers at home and abroad. A special 2nd opinion consultation hour supports patients with gynaecological-oncological problems and also their relatives. This focus is complemented by a special consultation hour for diagnosis and therapy concerning pre-stages of cervical cancer (dysplasia consultation hour), which might include laser treatment in particular cases.
Another focus lies on diagnosis and therapy in women suffering from aconuresis. In line with the interdisciplinary character of the medical centre, diagnosis and therapy are performed in close cooperation with the urology and physical medicine departments. We offer all currently established methods (sonography, cytoscopy, urodynamics, perineal gymnastics, bio-feedback, muscle stimulation).
We especially put emphasis on treatment of children and juvenile patients, who have gynaecological questions and problems.
We want to provide help to young patients and their families and additionally offer a contact point to colleagues who are seeking advice about gynaecological matters concerning children and juvenile patients.
The work of the gynaecology and obstetrics department is closely and reliably connected to the other clinical departments of the Medical Centre. The patient is undoubtably the centre of all our attention and in case of matters which concern more than one department we do everything possible to solve any problems quickly. Since we cooperate with colleagues working at the many gynaecological hospitals in our region, we can furthermore guarantee prompt hospital care in most cases.
